Planning for Thanksgiving Future

Since we celebrated Thanksgiving just last week and I still have Thanksgiving thoughts fresh in my head, I am currently working on planning for next year's Thanksgiving holiday. The day after Thanksgiving, I made notes of what food tactics worked—-putting pats of butter between our turkey's skin and meat and putting an onion inside the turkey—-and what recipes did not-—our homemade cornbread recipe, for example. I also made other miscellaneous notes such as my thought that I should bake pumpkin pie and carrot cake on Wednesday rather than on Thanksgiving Day and my realization that every dish that I made this year was baked or cooked in the oven at 350 degrees.

On a similar note, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I disassembled and stored our Thanksgiving decorations and made notes of where each piece of d├ęcor should be placed and what crafts I would like to make in the future. I also made notes of some traditions we might want to try establishing such as the creation of a gratitude banner throughout the month of November.

Next year, putting together the Thanksgiving holiday plans--both food and decor--should be simpler because of the planning I am doing this year.

Do you make written notes of what worked for your Thanksgiving holiday? Or do you rely on your memory?

One goal of mine in starting this blog was to make some new friends with whom to share thoughts, ideas, encouragement, and inspiration. Please post a message. I would love to hear from you! But please be friendly; please don't say anything in the comments that you would not say to me in my own home.
